Gardens of the Gods

Open-air Journeys

Ladies and you youthful lovers,

Long live Bacchus: long live Love!

 Everyone sing, dance and play!

Hearts, be all on fire with sweetness!

No faintness now or hint of sadness!

Whatever is to be must be:

Who’d be happy, let him be so:

 Nothing’s sure about tomorrow.

Lorenzo de’ Medici – A song for Bacchus

VERTUMNUS IN BOBOLI

Athena shapes order, Dionysus stirs life, and Vertumnus – god of ripening and transformation – shifts his face with every season.
The grandest of the Medici gardens, Boboli became the archetype of the Italian garden: a place where art and nature entwine in a living web of symbols.
Yet beyond the tourist tale, it is the first garden to turn political propaganda into a philosophical program: the vision of a rational man subduing the powers of Nature.

Half day (about 3 hours) : 250 euro

PAN IN PRATOLINO

This garden holds energies that have always drawn me in, yet I feel I’ve never fully understood them. For years I’ve pursued its spirit, and layer after layer it’s as if I’ve managed to glimpse, beneath the carpet of leaves, its most intimate reasons.
Here Francesco I de’ Medici built his most visionary dream, scattering an entire hill with ancient voices that still whisper beneath the moss.
An alchemical journey to be taken wearing the shoes of an archaeologist.

Half day (about 3 hours) : 250 euro

BACCHUS IN FIESOLE

Among the Etruscan cities, Fiesole was the northernmost, the last breath of salt, the farthest reach of Mediterranean culture.
The gods that still inhabit this hill speak precisely of that border: Byzantium, Alexandria, Cyprus, and Rome can still be sensed here, among the olive trees and stones that hold the warmth of a distant sea.
Fiesole is not an outpost but an echo, a point where the Mediterranean gathers itself before dissolving inland.

Half day (about 3 hours) : 250 euro

POMONA IN AMBRA

Ambra was the nymph possessed by the river Ombrone. So writes Lorenzo the Magnificent to introduce his new, resplendent villa to its guests.
For him, Giuliano da Sangallo designed a dwelling with the air of an ancient pagan temple, a place where time circles back on itself, ripening its fruits again and again with every season.

Half day (about 3 hours) : 250 euro
