Walks

Cities, gardens and landscapes preserve far more than their history. They hold gestures, ideas and images that continue to shape the way we see. Walking together means entering into a relationship with all of this, allowing art, architecture, philosophy, literature and nature to speak again in the places where they took form. Art is the thread running through these walks, while the conversation naturally opens towards landscape, myth, gardens, the history of ideas and everyday life. A relief by Donatello, an arch of pietra serena, a pergola, the scent of boxwood or the sound of cicadas can tell the same story from different points of view.

I work mainly in Florence and Tuscany, places I have been exploring for more than twenty years. I often return to Medici gardens, Renaissance villas, Fiesole, Pratolino, Romanesque parish churches in the countryside, quiet cloisters and less-visited museums. These are places that never stop revealing something new. I also guide in a number of other Italian cities, shaping each itinerary together with the people who will experience it.

Some routes pass through the great masterpieces of the Renaissance, while others follow less familiar paths. The starting point changes each time, but the attention remains the same: what is it that gives a place its particular character? I can organise visits lasting a few hours, full days, or itineraries spread over several days, depending on the time available, your interests and the rhythm of the group.

I design itineraries for travellers, families, small groups, schools, universities, cultural institutions and associations. Each visit begins with a conversation and takes shape around the interests, time and curiosity of the people walking with me. I am a licensed tour guide and can accompany visitors through the major artistic and cultural sites of Florence, Tuscany and a number of other Italian cities.
